Some Paintings by Christopher St Leger

Christpher St. Leger is a very unique and talented artist based out of Austin, Texas who works with oil, acrylic and watercolor paint with great proficiency, he typically paints people and places but I wouldn't say his works are portraits or landscapes either.

Neider - scrub free vessel (2008), watercolor on paper

League - nonfiction society (2007), watercolor on paper

In his paintings he works to harness and relive what he calls the 'transformative power' of settings, landmarks and monuments that he has visited before. He describes his process as going from the organic experience to a digital photograph that is then used to guide his painting and the recreation or return to the analog experience. His paintings demonstrate an astounding versatility in technique, medium and style. Though I much prefer his work done with watercolor, he is definitely talented with oil and acrylic as well. He's also got an incredibly keen eye and a precise hand, which both seem to coordinate very well together.

Exteriors - negroni (2011), inverse watercolor on paper

Ober - the surest way you and I fade (2007), mixed media on panel
